Retroid Drops Bombshell Teaser on Potential Dual-Screen Handheld

There it is ladies and gentlemen. The long-standing rumors of Retroid launching their very own dual-screen handheld have finally been confirmed! The Retroid team has dropped a bombshell of a teaser, with a faint silhouette of the handheld along with a video that says, “One screen, what if you had two?”.

Perhaps most users are familiar with their popular dual-screen add-on which lets you play DS and 3DS games on virtually any Android handheld. And while it temporarily curbed the insatiable hunger for a true dual-screen device, fans have been clamoring for that near-authentic experience from Retroid without having to use any sort of screen attachment to play their favorite DS and 3DS games.

With the rise of dual-screen handhelds like the Anbernic RG DS and Ayn Thor, it’s about time Retroid throws their hat in the ring and stir up the competition. They’re no strangers to clamshell devices as evidenced by their Retroid Pocket Flip and Flip 2 offerings, but this will be the first time they’ll enter the dual-screen arena, and some massive questions remain.

Will the hinge hold up after the debacle that plagued the Retroid Pocket Flip 2? What are the aspect ratios for each of the two screens? Only time will tell after Retroid drops the full spec-sheet. For now, we can only assume that the supposed dual-screen handheld will release sometime in Q4 of 2026, given they teased the Pocket Nova in June of this year and released it the following month.

It’ll be interesting to see which processor they’ll use for their next handheld. Judging by their previous release, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that they use the Qualcomm QCS8550 processor, which is essentially a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, but stripped of a 5G modem. It’s proven to handle PS2 and Gamecube games just fine, so going with that chipset will prove to be a wise decision for Retroid.

Any plans on copping this bad boy once it releases? Let me know in the comments!
